New DCBB
Web Site |
 |

30, November 2004
Anouncement |
|
|
|
Within the next
week or so this web address will be forwarded to our new web
site at
www.dcbbclan,com. You will still be able to
reach our web site using the old domain name, however some of
the links on this site will not work, only the index page.
Of course this all depends on how I set it up.
The new DCBB web site will be a PHPNUKE web with all the bells
and whistles to include virtual War. I'm hoping the new
web will take the load off myself, and enable each member to
input his own profile information, and with V-War it should be
much easer to keep up with Clan matches, TWL, Cal, and simple
scrimmages. Once it's up and running we will still be
tweaking and adding features, so this is the time for any
suggestions from the Membership. Everyone can thank [DCBB]Dude
for the new web, he's paying for it. Well, I did pay for
the domain name.

DUMB, &
DUMBER - The Battlefield Server Admin. |
 |
|
|
27, August 2004
Short Rant |
|
 |
|
I've been playing
this game for almost two year now as most of the on-line players
of today. BattleField 1942 & Desert Combat will have
their 2nd Birthday in September and October. The game is
getting old by PC Game standards, but there are still
thousands who enjoy this game and all the spin-off mods. Now
you would think that all of the Server Admins would by now
have some kind of understanding of how the game is played, but
alas nooo! We still have Dumb and Dumber out there in
far to great a number. What do I mean by this?

"Servers, Players, and Server Administrators, the good & the
bad" |
|
Desert Combat
on-line game servers are a mixed bag to say the least. I'm not
talking about the maps or mod types played, I'm going to talk
about who is behind the servers. On any given day or night you
can find 2,400+ servers running Battlefield 1942, Desert
Combat or one of it's lesser modifications. So who is behind
these so called free public game servers? First of all they
are not free! Someone has paid good money for each server
on-line, and that someone runs his server the way he or she
wants too. Every time you start up a game and join a public
server you must remember it's not really a public server. The
fact is every server you join is leased or owned by someone,
and usually about 95% of the time belongs to a Clan. If it
were not for the clans of Desert Combat the so called Pick-up
player would not have a server to play on. So first of all
remember that your a guest on the server, and subject to that
servers rules and regulations................ |

Battle: -DbD- vs DCBB JUNE 27th - Results |
 |
|
|
28, June 2004 |
|
 |
|
Yet another clash
with the -DbD- was held last night Sunday the 27th, and a
bloody affair it was. While we beat them soundly, I must
admit they have improved tremendously. They never
stopped coming at us, by the time we cleared a flag there were
more of them infiltrating the same flag area. It took
everything we had to over come the -DbD- last night. The
overall Ticket count which we use in determining the winner
for the 4 matches was DCBB 452 to the -DbD- 56.
We were challenged more so in the map Bocage. This is
one map......

Battle: *DFH* vs DCBB JUNE 19th - Results |
 |
|
|
21, June 2004 |
|
 |
|
On Saturday night
June 19th the DCBB met the *DFH* "Dogs From Hell" in answer to
a battle challenge. We played 2 maps, Kharkov Day 2 &
Basrah's Edge. The *DFH* leadership wanted a 12 -vs- 12
and showed up with 9 members. The contest was played 11
-vs- 9, however it would have made no difference if it was the
other way around. The skill and battle plan of the DCBB
was to much for the *DFH* no matter the numbers brought to
this battle.

Battle: -DbD- vs DCBB JUNE 13th - Results |

|
14, June 2004 |
|
 |
|
Once again the DCBB
rose to the occasion against a lean and hungry
- DbD- Clan winning by a combined ticket count of 549 to 0.
The total score points ran, DCBB at 588 to the -DbD- with 363.
We played 2 maps, Gazala then 73 Easting. The 1st map
was Gazala a 10 vs 10 on the -DbD- Clan server and ----- |

Battle: -DbD- vs DCBB JUNE 6th |
 |
|
|
7,
June 2004 |
|
 |
|
The DCBB rose to
the occasion against a very tough -DbD- Team winning by a
combined ticket count of 178 to 92. The scores and frags were
somewhat closer at: 494 to 418 and 398 to 370. The
winning difference was the DCBB held the Flags longer and more
often.
The first map played was Desert Shield, we were red and only
played this map once because the -DbD- wanted to go on to El
Alamein. Desert Shield was by far the closest contest
with an 8 to 0 ticket count win. If we had been blue on
this map I feel we would have won by a wider margin.

IN
COUNTRY, THE NAM! |
 |
|
|
28, February 2004 |
|
 |
|
It's been over 30
years since the conflict in Southeast Asia ended, and to many
of the gamers who will buy and play the game it will just be a
game. However there are some gamers who will experience
flash backs while playing the new sequel to BF1942,
BattleField Vietnam. The generation of the Vietnam era
will never forget what our country was like back in the late
1960's and early 1970's, it was not a time of great American
patriotism. It was however a time of reinventing a
country and one's self. We lost over 50,000 solders,
even more wounded, and a sense of who we were as a country.
It would take another 20 years, and another generation of
young men and women to remove the stigma of the Vietnam war
from the American mentality.

Operation Flaming Dart was the first major battle to take
place in Vietnam and occurred November 14th 1965 in the la
Drang Valley between the 1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry VS. 66th
NVA Regiment. Many of you might have read the book or seen the
movie staring Mel Gibson titled "We were Solders", this map of

Desert
Combat .70 is it an Improvement? |
 |
|
|
- 8, February
2004 |
|
After playing many
hours yesterday with 12 to 15 Brothers the answer is a
resounding YES! The game play is smoother overall in
every map we played. The areas in some maps which caused
lag has been noticeably reduced. All in all .70 is a
great bug fix release for Desert Combat. If I have one
request from the DCDT it would be to fix the M1A1 MBT's
ability to maneuver at least on par with the T-72. As it
stands now the M1A1 is inferior to the T-72, and given a
choice most will take the T-72 in a heart beat over the M1A1.
The few FX sound changes and improvements are a defiant plus,
and I love the sound of the 155mm shell as it passes over
head. A negative still is the no sound effects of being
hit while in the Mobile Artillery, but now at least the health
drops on the 1st hit, so watch your health meter.
The most noticeable, and most welcome change is the make over
of 73 Easting. A great armor and artillery map has moved
to one of the best maps of Desert Combat and is an absolute
pleasure to play. My only suggestion would be to take out the
Scud.
I really don't know if the DCDT made any changes on the flight
physics of the fixed wing aircraft but for a keyboard and
mouse flyer it sure seems better to me. All in all I
give the .70 Desert Combat patch a five star rating.
Keep it coming DCDT we love ya! |

Quick Fix
For DC Menu Problem |
 |
|
|
- 1, February
2004 |
|
With the
introduction of the BF1942 1.60 patch the scoreboard menu does
not work. Thanks to Zeuser - DCX you can now fix that
problem. Zeuser made the code fix's in the menu.rfa
file, it works great, PunkBuster has no problem with it at
all, and it's very easy to reverse if you want too. Why
the DCDT did not do this them selves I have no idea.
Here is what you do:
1)Make a backup copy of /DesertCombat/Archives/Menu.Rfa.
2) Unzip the new Menu.Rfa file into /DesertCombat/Archives
That's all there is to it, works like a champ. You can
get the
FIX HERE.
DC will be releasing the .70 patch this coming Friday or
Saturday which will officially fix the menu thing and
hopefully other issues with DC not related to the BF1942 1.60
patch.
The biggest single problem I saw while playing yesterday is
abuse of the new "kick Player" feature. Now the Punks,
and smackards are clicking like hell just to disrupt the game.
Sorry DICE this new feature will most likely be turned off on
99% of all servers. All that work for nothing, you just
did not think it through. If you really want to add
something to help, add the ability for server Admin's to move
players from one team to the other. Auto balance sucks
because many clans and friends want to play together on the
same team. |

The New BF1942 Server GUI |

- 10, January
2004 |
|
 |
|
|
|
Very few BF1942
players know or understand outside of Server Admin's that one
very important person is directly responsible for all the game
servers available on-line today. If the server Admin had
to depend on using the game server supplied by DICE & EA I
drought we would even have a third of the servers up we have
now. Who is this person and what did he do to give us so
many BF1942 servers on-line today.

Cheaters Placed On Notice: Your
Days Are Numbered. |
 |
|
|
- 10, January
2004 |
|
 |
|
|
|
Dice, and EA having
contracted with
Evenbalance to integrate
Punkbuster directly
into the Battlefield 1942 engine have placed the all to common
Punk, or Cheater on Notice. The day is close at hand
where the Punks will not be able to use there map hack, no-fog
hack, accuracy hack, wall hack and others while playing on
most BF1942 game servers without getting caught and kicked
from the server. We of the DC-BandofBrothers are very
excited about the up coming BF1942 1.60 patch which includes
many new and exciting additions to include Punkbuster enabled
game servers. We also will be participating with other
server Admin's in Black-Listing all known Cheaters. This
Black-List could extend to most every server on-line, which
would seriously limit a cheaters ability to even play the game
with or without his hack. Yes, Punks, this means your
days of cheating are almost over, and depending on what you do
now could also mean your days of even playing BattleField 1942
are over as well.
So when is the new BF1942 1.60 patch expected? Click the
link and see. Also we have a link to a resent interview
with Tony from Punkbuster which will give you more incite to
how Punkbuster works with BF1942. enjoy!
